Right of access to information

Exercising the right of access to information

The right of access to information in the sense of the Act on the Right of Access to Information presupposes access to ready and existing information, that is, information that exists in a materialised form. The legal definition of information does not include the obligation of a public authority to provide answers to questions, make statements or interpret, or produce new information.

The Ministry has the right to be compensated for actual material costs incurred in providing information to the user of the right of access to information and re-use of information, as well as to be compensated for the costs of delivering the requested information.
 
The compensation is charged according to the Criteria for determining the amount of compensation (Official Gazette, No. 12/14) from Article 19, paragraph 3 of the Act on the Right of Access to Information (Official Gazette, No. 25/13)  and Ordinance on the Cost of Re-use of Information (Official Gazette, No. 87/18).
