The third co-funded call of the Agroecology Partnership:Fostering plant and animal genetic biodiversity and empowering farmers to accelerate the agroecological transition (https://www.agroecologypartnership.eu/3rd-co-funded-call) is now open!
The Agroecology Partnership, funded under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, brings together 72 partners from 26 member states, associated and third countries to support the agricultural sector in response to the objectives and challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, food security and sovereignty, and environmental protection, while ensuring profitable activities for farmers.
This call focuses on two key pillars of the agroecological transition: the genetic dimension and the social dimension.
The first topic deals with genetic biodiversity and variability in crop and livestock production, with the aim of laying the foundations for increasing the availability of species, varieties and breeds that will support the development of agroecological production systems.
The second topic focuses on the social challenges of modern agriculture, with a particular emphasis on the motivation, skills and knowledge of farmers and the role of stakeholders in encouraging their participation in the agroecological transition.
The partnership will fund research and innovation projects that make a significant contribution to one of the following two topics:
Topic 1: Enhancing the genetic diversity and variability of crops and livestock for the agroecological transition
Topic 2: Strengthening farmers’ involvement and empowerment in the agroecology transition
Projects must contribute to all of the following outcomes/impacts:
✅ Practical-oriented knowledge, tools and innovations available to farmers and the sector
✅ Increased knowledge and capacity to implement agroecological practices
✅ Increased socio-economic and/or environmental performance
✅ Enhanced science-policy interfaces serving to facilitate a faster transition.
