The European Commission, led by the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), is preparing the EU’s new Strategic Approach to agricultural research and innovation, planned for mid-2026. The Strategic Approach aims to ensure the long-term competitiveness, sustainability and resilience of agriculture, forestry and rural areas in the EU, and contributes to the objectives of the Vision for Agriculture and Food and other Commission initiatives.
We invite you to participate in a short questionnaire designed to collect feedback from key stakeholders in the agricultural, forestry and rural sectors, including researchers, innovators, farmers, foresters, rural communities, cooperatives and associations, consultants, businesses and private sector actors, policy makers, NGOs and other relevant organisations. The survey, which is open until 25 January, can be accessed at: https://agriculture.ec.europa.eu/overview-vision-agriculture-food/research-innovation_en with a direct link to the page: EU survey of the new Strategic Approach to agricultural research and innovation
Sharing your thoughts will contribute to designing a strategic approach that will reshape the EU’s innovation path from research to market, identify priority thematic areas of research and innovation, and stimulate the uptake of new knowledge and innovation by farmers, foresters and rural stakeholders to promote the competitiveness, sustainability and resilience of the sector.
In addition, as outlined in the Strategy for European Life Sciences, the European Commission, led by the Directorate-General for Research and Development (DG RTD), will develop a complementary strategic agenda for research and innovation in food systems to foster the development of competitive, sustainable and resilient solutions for food systems.
